According to our initial reports, a bomb fitted in a car exploded in Parachinar’s Kashmir Chowk near Turi market, killing 12 and injuring 40 others. The injured have been shifted to the Agency Headquarters Hospital. The Tehreek-e-Taliban and Lashkar-e-Jhangvi are said to be behind the attack.
The bomb was fitted in a car though some people are claiming it to be the work of a suicide bomber. The bodies of the martyrs are being moved to the a close by Imambargah.
A local LEO has said that a terrorist crashed the car into a wall at Hamid Market, which then exploded.
The local administration has confirmed that nearby buildings have also been severely damaged by the blast. A reporter who happened to be on the scene on the time of the blast has said that atleast 30 of the market’s shops were completely destroyed.
About the injured, the doctors said that some are in critical condition whereas some are stable.
The local administration says that Kashmir Chowk was always very crowded during the day. The business here was mostly of used cars, radios and tape recorders, etc.
Shiites have been targeted in Parachinar several times before where hundreds were killed or injured.
Following the blast, security forces have taken over complete control of the area and have started securing it.
